Alexanders Outing Ends Streak

Blue Jays' Jansen, Palacios homer as Tigers fall 6-2

Alexander's outing ends streak

Palacios' two-run HR in the eighth gives Toronto the lead

TORONTO (AP) — Left-hander Tyler Alexander was perfect into the eighth inning, but Richie Palacios hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning and Danny Jansen added a solo shot later in the frame to lift the Toronto Blue Jays over the Detroit Tigers 6-2 on Tuesday night.

Alexander, who entered the game with a 3.12 ERA, allowed two hits in 7 1/3 innings. He struck out 10 and walked one.

The Tigers (15-28) have lost four straight and 10 of their last 12.

The Blue Jays (23-18) have won four of their last five.

Jansen's homer was his ninth of the season.

Palacios' homer was his fifth.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said after the game that Alexander's outing was one of the best he's seen from a Tigers pitcher this season.

"He was outstanding," Hinch said. "He was in complete control of the game. He was throwing strikes, he was changing speeds, he was keeping the hitters off balance. It was a really impressive outing."
